FOP says their “No Confidence” vote was leaked

47 ABC made over 30 calls to the Smyrna Police Department and multiple trips to the town council for answers on what was being done about the allegations against Chief Wood, only to be met with silence. Some of the things listed in the FOP’s complaint highlighted Woods  inability to lead the agency is due to his failure to lead by example, inability to inspire and motivate others, lack of communication skills, as well as failure to coach and develop his employees.

Wednesday the FOP released a statement saying that the information about Chief Wood was released to the public without their knowledge,  assuring folks that the leak of this information was not authorized by them. Adding that they are still awaiting a response from town council about the concerns expressed about their chief.

Yesterday 47 ABC attended a town council meeting where no one was willing to speak on the matter publicly.  Mayor Joanne Masten expressed her surprise that we drove all the way from Salisbury as she left the room leaving the town’s solicitor in the hot seat.

“The town council met to discuss the letter that was sent to the town from the FOP,  lodge 22 and tonight the town council voted to unanimously forward that letter to the attorney generals office for an investigation of the matter,” explained Barrett Edwards, Smyrna’s town solicitor.

The FOP states that they will continue to remain optimistic in hopes that each and every one of the issues presented against Chief Wood to the Mayor and Council will soon be addressed and corrected.
