Fatal crash under investigation in Harrington

Troopers in Delaware say they are currently investigating a fatal car crash in Harrington, that claimed the life of a Maryland man Thursday night.

According to Delaware State Police, the crash happened around 8:00 PM on Burrsville Road north of Parker Road. As 43-year-old Ronald Geaman Jr. of Henderson, Maryland approached a curve in the road the vehicle reportedly lost control. The car then started to rotate clockwise and reentered the roadway where he traveled off the east edge of the roadway hitting a utility pole with its left front bumper. The vehicle then rotated clockwise striking a mailbox and a fence with its rear. The vehicle continued to rotate clockwise hitting a tree with its left front bumper and came to rest facing in an easterly direction.

Geaman who was reportedly wearing his seatbelt, was transported to the Kent General Hospital where he died a short time later.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in this crash. Burrsville Road in the area of the crash was closed for about three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared. This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
