Family and family friend reportedly rescued from sailboat near Wachapreague

The Coast Guard reportedly saved seven people from a sailboat on Sunday near Wachapreague.
According to officials, Coast Guard Station Wachapreague watchstanders found out around 5:30PM, that people were on a sailboat that ran aground by Hog Island.
A 24-foot special purpose craft-shallow water boat crew launched from Station Wachapreague at 6PM and got on scene 7PM.
The boat crew reportedly got all seven people, a family and a family friend, from the sailboat and took them to Wilis Warf in Great Machipongo.
Patrick Callanan, Petty Officer 3rd Class, boat crew member for the case says, “We were happy to get the family off the sail boat and back to Willis Warf safely, we advise all mariners to check any weather advisories along their route when getting underway.”
Officials say no injuries or pollution was reported.
