Dover man arrested on weapon and drug charges in Felton

Police say a Dover man has been arrested on drug and weapons charges after a car stop Saturday afternoon in Felton.

According to Delaware State Police, on Saturday around 2:20PM, a trooper on routine patrol on southbound DuPont Highway near Walnut Shade Road in Felton saw a Dodge Stratus being driven in an erratic manner. As the Stratus went onto Walnut Shade Road, the trooper began a traffic stop of the car.

When the trooper came closer to the driver and only occupant of the car, 25-year-old Anthony Cadiz of Dover, the trooper reportedly then noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. A search of the car was reportedly made at the time, where 8.8. Grams of marijuana, .12 grams or eight bags of heroin, and a digital scale were found in the center console. Troopers also reportedly found a Springfield 9mm handgun in a book bag in the inside of the car.

A reported search of the gun found that it had been reported as stolen during a Felton area burglary which had happened on October 4.

Police say Cadiz was arrested and taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

Cadiz was reportedly arraigned, and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution on $20,1000 cash bail.
