Delmar Clinches South Title with 3-0 Win Over Milford

The Delmar volleyball teams dominance in the Henlopen South continued as the Wildcats clinched their 4th straight conference title Tuesday night with a 3 sets sweep of Milford. The win improves Delmar to 8-6, while the loss drops the Buccaneers to 8-6.

Delmar came out firing early on, getting kill after kill from their two strong front row players in Le’Zhane’ Holmes and Avery Wheatley. The team got a special added boast with senior Carly Covington being medically cleared to serve on the night, where she was able to come up with 8 kills. The ‘Cats quickly took the first set and were rolling again in the second as Milford tried to slow down the momentum. The Bucs would manage a small run, led by some strong play at the net of their own from Brianna Cahall. But the day, and the conference belonged to Delmar. Sitting on match point, Kelsie Hughes would set up Holmes for the match clinching kill.

Next up, Delmar hosts St. Marks, while Milford Caesar Rodney on the road.
