Defense & Special Teams Lifts Easton Football Past Kent County

The Easton football team picked up a nice conference road win Saturday afternoon when they defeated Kent County 22-20. The win improves the Warriors to 4-1, while the loss drops the Trojans to 2-3.
Kent County would come out ready to play, and on their second drive strike first. Takai Caulk would take a handoff on a counter, bounce it to the outside and take it 56 yards to the house for the score. Easton would have the answer after a huge special teams play. They would block a punt by Kent County, and recover it in the redzone. A couple plays latter, Mason Ledford would take it in on the right side on a quarterback keeper as Easton would grab a 7-6 lead. Kent County would the ones that responded in the second quarter after Marcquan Greene would bust a big run down to the 5 yard line, before taking an inside handoff in for the go-ahead score.
The teams would exchange more punts and defense stops to open the 3rd quarter before the Warriors would make another huge special teams play. Dempsey Crandell would block a punt, pick it up and take it 25 yards the other way for the go-ahead score with just second left in the quarter. Then in the 4th quarter, the Trojans would be backed up deep in their own territory on 3rd down when they tried to set up a screen pass. Tae Bailey would pick it off and take it to the house to push the lead to 22-12. Greene would bring his team back after finding Dawshawn Lister for a touchdown strike, before running in the 2pt conversion. Easton would run down the clock before punting with under a minute to go. The Trojans would block the punt and have an opportunity to score, but couldn’t find the endzone as Easton held on for the win.
Easton returns to action on Friday when they travel to Queen Anne’s, while Kent County travels to Stephen Decatur on Friday.
