DE State Police join local leaders for town hall meeting

Improving the relationship between law enforcement and the people they serve. Delaware State police teamed up with local leaders on Thursday night to host a dialogue with folks in the area, in the hopes of addressing some key issues.
Many topics were covered in the discussion, including marijuana in Delaware. They talked about what is legal and how it can be dangerous. They also discussed Delaware’s heroin problem.
47 ABC spoke with Major Galen Purcell and he says these meetings all started with Colonel Nathaniel McQueen, the superintendent of Delaware State police, who wanted to address current problems before they get bigger. Major Purcell tells 47 ABC, “This I see as an ongoing thing, I don’t think this will be the only town hall meeting for troop 4. I think the strength of this is we may think we’re doing a great job, or we may think let’s do these things and that’s what the community wants and it’s great to go out and actually solicit from the community. Are we doing a good job, what can we do better.”
Delaware State Troops 4, 5 and 7 all hold these meetings and the next meeting will be held by troop 5, and is scheduled for January of 2017.
