Crisfield Field Hockey Top Jags In Regional Quarterfinals

The No. 2 Crisfield field hockey team advanced to the Regional Semifinals with a 2-1 win over No. 3 Washington Thursday afternoon. The Crabbers will now travel to face top seeded Pocomoke.

The Crabbers would be on the attack early on often in the first half. Crisfield would fire a number of a good shots on frame, but each were turned back by the Jaguars keeper Grace Barnes. Finally, Crisfield would break through. Off a corner, Lainie Pruitt would take a pass, take a step inside the circle and fire a shot to the far post for the score. Crisfield would take their 1-0 lead into the half, but look for more in the second half. Not long into the half, a cross would find an open Miranda Adkins at the far post, who would be able to get a stick on the ball to send it home. Washington continued to fight trying to get back into the match and would finally get on the board after Marianna Day would send a shot in from a tricky angle on the  end line. That’s as close as the Jags would get though as the Crabbers defense would lock in from there.
