Chickens spilled out on Smyrna roadway after tractor trailers crash

Delaware State Police are currently investigating a crash involving two tractor trailers that occurred early Wednesday morning in North Smyrna.

Investigators say, the crash happened just before 3:45 AM, in the southbound lane of Route 1 at Exit 119. There were no injuries reported, however, officials say one of the two trucks overturned, spilling its load of chickens in the roadway. As a result the southbound lanes of Route 1 have been closed to traffic for an unknown length of time and commuters are asked to find alternate routes of travel.

According to troopers, the investigation into this crash in its early stages and more information will be released once available.
