Bennett High School football team to hold their first game Saturday on their new field

It’s an exciting night for Bennett High school football players because on Saturday they get to break in their brand new field. This new field is 5 years in the making. Head football coach Glenn Gibson says it was a 3 phase project.
First was the demolition of the old Bennett High school. Next, they built the new high school, and finally, they eliminated Bennett Middle school, which is where the new field sits.
Gibson tells 47 ABC, “It’s a great opportunity for the kids they’re so excited to finally not have to get on a bus to go play a home game at Wicomico County stadium. They can’t wait they’ve been talking about it all week and it’s something they’ve looked forward to and hopefully we can show up and play the game we’re supposed to play.”
Their first game will be played tomorrow against Stephen Decatur at noon. Coach Gibson says the new field already has a nickname they’re calling it “The Shipyard”.
