Bennett And Stephen Decatur Boys Soccer Battle To 2OT Draw

The Stephen Decatur and Bennett boys soccer teams battled for 100 minutes Wednesday afternoon, finishing in a 1-1 draw. The tie improves the Seahawks to 7-0-1 on the year, while the Clippers improve to 5-0-2.

The teams would be in a physical, back and forth game early on. Both teams would fire shots on goal but Decatur’s Noah Shockley and Bennett’s Jacob Booze would both do a great job in goal. With time starting to wind down in the first half, the Seahawks were finally able to get on the board after Evan Conboy would find Kevin Beck who would fire one far post for the score. The Seahawks would hold onto a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Clippers came out firing in the second half. Peter Gutoskey would have an opportunity to tie the match up with a couple free kicks, but they would sail over the upright. With the game winding down, Alistair Swierkosz would be able to find the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1. Both teams defense would tighten down in the extra periods as the match would end in a draw.

Bennett returns to work on Friday when they host Kent Island, while Decatur host Wi-Hi on Monday.
