Alex and Calvin’s Law now in effect in MD

called alex and calvin’s law – which deals with parents that give alcohol to kids that are underage. according to the new law – if a parent gives a child underage alcohol they could face up to a year in prison and a maximum fine of 5 thousand dollars if the drinkers drive and then cause any injury. we spoke to one local attorney about the new law – who says many parents probably don’t know about it – and that the state should do more to advertise the new laws if they want people to know them. one would think that they would spend more time and energy and resources in actually getting the word out so that there wouldn’t be a need to punish people, but to potentially curb that behavior before it even happens alex and calvin’s law was named after two maryland high school graduates who were killed in an accident where the driver was underage and had consumed that alcohol at an adult supervised party. coming up – u-s regulators are now looking into
