Worcester County urge residents and visitors to take precautionary measures

With Hermine currently coming through Delmarva, each state has declared a state of emergency.

Worcester County commissioners gave residents and visitors some pointers on how to prepare for this.

Worcester County Emergency services and Maryland Emergency management agency urge residents and visitors to take precautionary measures, such as creating an emergency kit that contains necessities like a flashlight with batteries, glow sticks, a portable radio, and water containers.

Other items to consider putting in there are prescriptions for medicines and a copy of your license, just in case you need to head back to your residential area and need proof to enter a restricted area.

Worcester County’s Director of Emergency Services says for any loose objects  outside including deck furniture, trash cans, or anything that is sitting out in the yard, residents and business should bring them inside. The director said that these items can fly if the winds get to a point where they can move stuff around in the yard.

The director recommends to get things done early in order to avoid driving in gusts of winds.

Worcester County officials will continue to monitor the programs of Hermine and will provide emergency updates as necessary.
