With primary win, Schwartzkopf eyes general election

In the Delaware district fourteen democratic primary incumbent and current house speaker Peter Schwartzkopf beat out challenger Don Peterson with over 70 percent of the vote.
Our crew caught up with Schwartzkopf at his election party at Grotto Pizza in Rehoboth Beach where he was joined by family and friends.
We asked Schwartzkopf what he thinks the biggest issue facing his district.
He says improving infrastructure will be at the top of his list if he’s re-elected this fall.
“Route one impacts our tourism. Tourism drives everything in this area. We have 7 million visitors a year just to Dewey, Rehoboth and Midway area, that’s not counting Bethany that’s not counting Fenwick, 7 million people so we have to keep them moving. So Route one always affects everyone in this district,” Schwartzkopf said.
This year marks the first time he will run against a republican nominee since 2010.
His opponent in November general election will be local attorney James Demartino.
