Wanted man arrested in Berlin

A Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responded to a Berlin home on Sunday in order to find a wanted person.

The deputy apparently knew that an individual identified as Warner Bryant Rivers 26, of Berlin, was living at the home on Hayes Landing Road and had an active District Court warrant.

When the deputy arrived around 8 PM, he was reportedly met by several people at the home.

According to the report, the deputy was told several times that Rivers was not at the house. The deputy apparently continued his investigation anyway, and eventually found Rivers who was hiding in a bedroom in the home.

Officials say Rivers was placed under arrest, and while being searched, suspected heroin and cocaine were found on him.

Rivers was reportedly charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance-not marijuana.

He was later held at the Worcester County Detention Center on $3,000 bond for the warrant and an additional $5,000 bond for the additional charges.
