UPDATE: Trial for puppy mill suspect rescheduled

The trial for an Eden man arrested in connection to an alleged puppy mill has been postponed, court officials decided Wednesday.

60-year-old Robert Murphy and 67-year old Susan Murphy were arrested in July after authorities say more than 300 dogs were rescued from their Eden property in April.

Both Robert and Susan Murphy face 84 charges each, including animal cruelty and failure to provide care.

Murphy’s trial has been moved to October 17.

Ella Disharoon, a prosecutor for the Wicomico County State’s Attorney Office, tells 47ABC the case has been rescheduled to give the defense more time.

According to online court documents, Susan Murphy’s trial is also scheduled for October 17.
