UPDATE: Route 1 reopens after fatal crash

Delaware State Police Troopers are currently on the scene of a crash along southbound Route 1 at exit 98, that they say ended with one civilian dead, and a Trooper being airlifted.
According to State Police, a 77-year-old male driver was traveling the wrong way on Route 1 just before 6:00 P.M. Thursday.
The driver of the passenger car was apparently pronounced dead at the scene. A family dog also reportedly perished in the crash.
DSP say the Trooper was airlifted and committed to Christiana Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
Route 1 southbound was closed for four hours at exit 104 past the scene of the accident while the crash was investigated.
At this point in time, Troopers say they are investigating just how long the man was driving in the wrong direction.
