UPDATE: Police find man responsible for July car fire

On Friday, the Deputy State Fire Marshals say they arrested a man in connection with a vehicle fire that happened on July 26.
The fire reportedly happened in the 400 Block of South Park Drive in Salisbury. According to the report, the fire involved a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and caused an estimated $20,000 dollars in damage.
Five firefighters from the Salisbury Fire Department controlled the fire in 15 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
The investigation into the fire resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for 19-year-old Kendal Lee Smiley.
Officials say Smiley was charged with second degree arson, malicious burning first degree, and malicious destruction of property greater than $1,000. The warrant was apparently served at Smiley’s home and he was taken into custody without further incident.
According to the report, Smiley was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center, and if he is convicted of all charges, he faces 28 years in jail and / or $37,500 dollars in fines.
