UPDATE: MSP say a pedestrian died following crash

Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack say they responded to Route 301 northbound, just south of Route 302 at 11:06 p.m. on Friday for a reported vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
Police state the initial investigation showed that a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Patrick Schleiger, was traveling northbound on Route 301 approaching Route 302. According to MSP, the Jetta struck a pedestrian walking in lane one of Route 301.
The investigation reports that the Jetta came to a final stop in that lane and the pedestrian came to a final rest in the grass median located along the road.
According to police, the pedestrian was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma for medical care but died due to his injures. MSP state 18-year-old Eric Emory Jr. has been identified as the pedestrian.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
