UPDATE: Crisfield teacher accused of doing drugs on school grounds reportedly released

51-year-old Bonnie Crockett, of Princess Anne

According to court documents, a trial date has been set for a teacher arrested at Crisfield High School on drug charges.

Police say on Friday, around 10:10AM, an officer was called to Crisfield High School after a report that a teacher had drugs. When the officer arrived, administrators told the officer that they saw someone walk up to 51-year-old Bonnie Crockett’s car, put something white on the center console of the car, and leave in her minivan. According to court documents, a week prior, the same woman went to the school to give Crockett a pill bottle and a contact lens case. Apparently there had reportedly been other occasions where the person has brought odd items to Crockett during school hours.

When Crockett was questioned, she reportedly told police that she was only given 10 dollars and her lunch, but Crockett reportedly had a white envelope that was showing in her pocket with a bulge in it.

When the envelope was opened, it reportedly contained a contact lens case with white powder inside that may have been possible crushed pills, along with a bag that had 10 white pills. Court documents showed the pills had RP on one side and 10/325 on the other.

Investigation reportedly found that the pills were Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, a schedule two narcotic. Police say, the pills will be given to the Maryland State Police lab for analysis.

Court documents also show that the officer found that the drugs were not in a medicine bottle and there was no prescription. The officer also said that he knew that ten pills in a plain plastic baggie shows the distribution of pills, and that people will crush prescription pills to inhale through the nostrils for faster effects, instead of swallowing them.

There is a reported investigation because of Crockett’s reported suspicious activity and because the pill bottles being in the school, which is a drug free zone. Court documents show that an administrator had found that Crockett seemed lost during class time, and on numerous occasions, Crockett was believed to be high on something.

Crockett is reportedly being suspended without pay. She was reportedly arrested and taken to the Crisfield Police Department. When her bag was searched, court documents show officers found a small brown envelope with crushed pill residue and a rolled up piece of paper.

Police say, Crockett may use the envelope to crush the pills, and the rolled up piece of paper to snort them.

According to court documents, there was no contraband on Crockett’s person. Police also reportedly tried to see if there was a K-9 available to search her class room and a bathroom that Crockett allegedly uses during class, but there was not one.

Court documents show that Crockett’s car was taken to a local impound lot for further investigation. Her cell phone will reportedly be investigated also.

Crockett’s bail hearing took place Monday where court documents show that Crockett was released on her own recognizance.

Her preliminary hearing is reportedly set for October 21 in Somerset County.

Online court documents showed that Crockett has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia, and possession with intent to distribute on school property.
