Two reported clown sightings in Salisbury

Early Monday morning, police say they began investigations into two separate reported clown sightings in Salisbury.

According to the Salisbury Police Department, around midnight and around 3:30AM on Monday, officers went to Fairground Drive to investigate a reported clown sighting. When officers met the reported callers of the clown sightings, they callers said they saw people dressed as clowns hiding in bushes and jumping out to frighten people.

Investigation also reportedly revealed that the callers saw three different people dressed as clowns. All of them were reportedly wearing clown masks with blue and orange hair. Police say, one clown was wearing a black suit and the other two clowns were wearing white suits. Officers reportedly then began a detailed search of the are on foot and in police cars, but they could not find the described clowns.

Police say they will continue to search the area to find and identify the clowns. They also say that even though dressing like a clown is not illegal, hiding in bushes or wooded area to try and scare people is a dangerous situation, and it can lead to unexpected consequences. Salisbury Police is asking people to not engage in the behavior. They also say that as the trend grows nationally, they discourage people following this behavior to avoid dangerous situations.
