Truck crash causes oil spill on Route 13

Maryland State Police in Salisbury say early Friday morning they responded to a tractor trailer crash on Route 13, that spilled oil onto the roadway.
Troopers say the crash happened just before 3:15 AM on North Salisbury Boulevard, just north of Dagsboro Road. A Freightliner Tractor Trailer, driven by Aaron Opara was traveling north on the road when officials say it “jackknifed.” The tractor trailer reportedly slid across the lanes, before hitting a metal guard rail and coming to a stop. As a result one of the fuel tanks were ruptured and leaked diesel fuel into the median.
Troopers say Opara appeared to be uninjured and refused medical treatment at the scene.
Due to the fuel spill the Salisbury Fire Department responded with assisted by the Delmar Fire Department, Wicomico County Emergency Management, Maryland Department of Energy, The State Highway Administration. The roadway was partially shut down for approximately 4 hours while the scene was placed under control and cleaned up.
