The City of Dover Parks & Recreation Department has announced that Schutte Park will close on September 19-20.

Department officials say that Schutte Park WILL BE CLOSED FOR PUBLIC ACCESS beginning 6AM on September 19 through 5:30AM on September 21.

For information on a program or league updates check the parks and rec website, and officials say they will call and/or email effected program participants.

People are also warned to expect longer than normal delays in the area between now and Wednesday, September 21.

The Parks & Recreation staff will be limited in their operating capacity during this time.

Inquiries are encouraged via email at parks@dover.de.us, and officials say any phone messages left for the department will be returned in a timely manner.

Emergency calls may be directed to the Planning & Inspections Office by calling 302-736-7196.

Ann Marie Townshend, director of Parks & Recreation stated, “Please accept my apologizes for the inconveniences this may cause, however this closure is unavoidable due to the active sewer replacement project taking place.   I encourage park visitors to enjoy one of our many other wonderful parks for walking/biking and outdoor activities during this brief period.”
