Supporting our Princess Anne firefighters

Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Company had a crab cake fundraiser for our local heros and they were shocked when 47 ABC pulled into their fire station to support their event.
This volunteer fire house hosts these events through out the year to help maintain operating costs for the year. Firefighters tel 47 ABC that they get limited amounts of funding from the state and county so, this is one of the only ways they can get the community members out to see that they are here to support them.
“Out of all the fire fighters in the United States of America about 75% are actually volunteer firefighters about 25% of them are paid out of all the firefighters in the us,” said their spokesperson, Cindi Pietroski. “People don’t realize that most of the firefighter organizations are volunteer firefighters across the United states and it is on a steady decline unfortunately.”
Cindi also tells 47 ABC they just got a new rescue car yesterday, which allows them to serve larger portions of the community.
