Salisbury University’s new community service project “Maroon and Gold Make Meals” serves elementary students

This Labor Day weekend, Salisbury University freshman students are helping out in a community service project called “Maroon and Gold Make Meals”.
Salisbury University freshman are assigned to a student at East Salisbury Elementary school in order to build them a special weekend care package that has nonperishable foods as well as personalized and individualized messages.
A coordinator on behalf of the Wicomico School of Education board told 47 ABC that East Salisbury Elementary School is one of the highest free and reduced meals school.
They had a program for feeding kids on the weekend but due to grant funding running out, they needed to find a system on how to feed kids on the weekend.
With this new service, they can finally have a solution.
Organizers hope to see these kinds of events happen monthly. The hope is that it will show other people in the community to motivate them to help out, as well.
