of coffee or have breakfast or lunch. old towne deli is that spot and from it’s art deco wall of history to the friendly staff and warm atmosphere, its the newest place to be for good food and more. 04:05:26- 05:29 it’s our dream, something we’ve always wanted to do. track 1- melissa malone is talking about the opening of old towne deli.she owns it with her husband, richard.she says they’d put it on the back burner for years because they both had previous careers. 04:05:45- 04:06 and then one day we just really felt like the lord was telling us it was time and it too early to retire and not do anything.so, i approached my husband and told him i think this is what we’re supposed to do and he said ok let’s go track 2- and off they went.located in downtown salisbury off of division street, old towne deli is in the thick of a big effort to revitalize the area. 04:06:12- 06:23 i think we came at a right time.downtown is really growing.we have had tremendous support from everybody track 3- it’s quaint and peaceful by design.melissa says they also wanted to keep it affordable for people to have 30 minutes to relax.as for the menu… 04:06:42- 06:45 we serve everything we love :04:06:48-07:01 turkey reubens, paninis, we have vegetarian, we have gluten free, fresh made salads everyday, homemade soups, we have a$5 special everyday track 4- they also serve breakfast including the famous new york breakfast bialy sandwich which is a cross between a bagel and an english muffin.they get them shipped from belle’s bakery in brooklyn.they also have some other big sellers. 04:08:04- 08:23 the robin’s nest which is bacon, lettuce and tomato with egg salad, the cran slam is on toasted holla bread toasted with cream cheese, granny smith apples and cranberries, turkey track 5- well, that all sounds soooo delicious, but we went with the healthy veggie and a reuben, which is one of my favs.it’s also one of restaurant’s more popular sandwiches.tina brennan was about to put her artistry to work…beginning with the reuben. she started with2 slices of marble rye bread.she buttered both sides because it would soon go onto the panini press. she added swiss cheese on each slice, several slices of corned beef, some thousand island dressing and sauerkraut.she stuck it in the microwave to “loosen up everything” as she put it. 04:11:03- 11:16 in the meantime, we’ll start with one of my favorites .yes, i’m an artist, so it’s like creating. track 6- she cut the pita pocket in half, lathered it with hummus for flavor and then a colorful array of veggies explode onto the sandwich.she added sprouts, cucumbers, red onion, green peppers, tomato and lettuce.it was a sight for hungry eyes.meanwhile, she took the reuben out of the microwave , placed it on the panini press for a couple of minutes… and then it was time 01-:05 ok, i’m going to be healthy first and try the veggie. :09- :24 mmmmmm, the sprouts and hummus and crispiness of veggies makes that a great veggie sandwich :39-:55 for those who like a little more calorie, reuben.let’s see….that is sooo good i really like reubens and i enjoyed that one.i tried the potato salad and the cole slaw.bother were delicious.they are open monday -friday from 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. the cater and also accept online orders. and if you’re looking for a small space to host a special event, old town deli has available space on saturdays and on the weekdays after 5 and on saturdays.so be sure to check them out, and join us next week for another great round of cooking in kitchen insider. stay tuned… more news and weather straight ahead.
