OC man charged with theft from a local pub

Robert C. Jackson, 51, of Ocean City

OC Police say that because of tips posted on a Facebook group for Ocean City locals, they were able to quickly identified and charge an Ocean City man with theft from a downtown pub.

On Friday, around 8PM, Ocean City police report that they responded to Pickle’s Pub, on 704 Philadelphia Avenue, for a report of a theft.

The owner of the business told officers that a backpack containing items valued at over $1,000 was stolen while he was preoccupied for a very short time.

According to the report, after reviewing surveillance footage, the owner posted an image of the suspect on a Facebook group for local Ocean City residents. This post resulted in a number of tips from citizens, and officers were able to review these tips and investigate further.

Through investigation, officers were able to charge Robert Jackson, 51, of Ocean City, with the theft on Saturday.

Ocean City police have officially charged Jackson with theft of $1,000 to $10,000. Jackson was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released on personal recognizance.
