North Caroline Volleyball Rolls To Season Opening Win Over Decatur

The North Caroline volleyball team opened their season with an impressive 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-17) win over Stephen Decatur Wednesday night. The win improves the Bulldogs to 1-0, while the loss drops the Seahawks to 0-1.
North Caroline would jump out to a big lead in the first set. Sydney Dawkins defense at the net caused several attacking errors by Decatur, while she was able to generate points herself off a few nice blocks. Once the Seahawks were able to force the ‘Dawgs into their sets, Haily Sears would come through with a few nice kills to give them the first set. Then in the set 2, North Caroline continued to build their lead after getting easy points from some strong serving from Serena O’Connell. North Caroline would go to set 3 looking to close it out, but Decatur would go on a run. Madison Jones would string together a point streak at serve, followed by some tough serves from Laxi Black. A over set would lead to a monster kill from Piper Conners that would get Decatur within 7 points, but North Caroline would be able to close it out. Mackenzie Werner would serve up an ace to end the match and give her team the win.
Decatur returns to work on Tuesday when they host Pocomoke, while North Caroline host St. Vincent on Friday.
