New director named for state Division of Forensic Science

(AP) – A high-ranking state trooper has been named as the new director of the Delaware Division of Forensic Science.
Media outlets report that John Evans was appointed to the position Monday by Secretary of Safety and Homeland Security James Mosley. Evans has worked for the state police for 29 years, including 14 years in homicide investigations as the head of the homicide unit.
The former director, Michael Wolf, resigned at the end of July shortly after saying that the state had failed to provide staffing and resources necessary to run the division.
On Monday, Evans said the division needs “to take those challenges and frustrations and turn them into opportunities.”
Evans’ start date hasn’t yet been determined.
