TAX-FREE SHOPPING IN MARYLAND takes place all this week. It is good on clothing priced at less than $100 and is sure to be appreciated by many Maryland residents and businesses. I was speaking with a retired school administrator about this and we came to the conclusion that the Comptroller could make a much stronger pro-education statement by expanding that tax-free status to include school supplies. The more I thought about it, the stronger I felt about it so I wrote to Comptroller Franchot and asked him to consider it. Will let you know how that goes!

ATTENTION ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS! You still have time to get your work recognized in local competition:

• Wicomico County Tourism has announced their 2016 Photography Contest.
