Milford woman arrested on several theft charges

The Harrington Police Department says it arrested a woman on Thursday for several theft charges.

According to the report, in July, the Harrington Police Department was contacted by the owner of Midtown Liquors in Harrington about a possible employee theft that had been happening since June.

Detectives say they began investigating and found out that Jaimie K. Comerfield, 40, of Milford, was an employee of the business. While she worked there, she would apparently submit false refunds to the business and then keep the money.

Detectives also found out that this happened on numerous occasions in June and July, so they were able to obtain warrants for her arrest.

On Thursday, Comerfield was taken into custody at her home without incident, and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.

Comerfield also had active capias out of Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.

She was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and charged with 39 counts of theft under $1,50,0 and one count of falsifying business records.  She was also arraigned on her capias.  She was released on $4,000 unsecured bond on the theft charges and she posted bond for cash bond associated with the capias, and released pending a future court appearance.
