Maryland Teacher of the Year finalists have been announced

year award — and on the list of just seven teachers — one of wicomico county’s finest instructors. christy briggs — teaches sixth grade at bennett middle school. the candidates started as a pool of twenty — now whittled to seven. briggs received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from salisbury university — and has been teaching for nineteen years. briggs says that her love of literacy is what inspires her. i am passionate about what i do. i feel very strongly in literacy and that everyone needs to become literate and aware so they can be conscious consumers in society. and that if you are literate you can come what you want to be and be successful in life. briggs says that there will be another round of interviews later this month. they will announce the results at the maryland teacher of the year awards gala on october seventh. in dorchester county — the school district now
