Maryland residents can now request Social Security Number cards online

The social security administration has introduced an expansion of online services for Maryland residents allowing them to replace and request social security number cards online.

Through the agency’s new my Social Security portal, this addition is the newest online feature at www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount.

Maryland is one of the 14 states to have this option for residents to sign up for this free online account.

The Social Security Administration says that people can now replace their social security number card conveniently and in the comfort of their home or office, rather than waiting in long lines.

A public affairs specialist, Matthew Baxter, tells us that this system is completely safe, especially with their online security set up.

Baxter says the registration process includes two identification verification steps and if any of the information the user provides does not match what is in the federal and credit bureau record, that individual will not be permitted to create their account.

Maryland just launched this feature on September 6th, 2016 and almost 700 replacement cards have been issued to Maryland residents.
