The Maryland State Police and the Maryland Department of Transportation came together at the Maryland Food Bank’s Baltimore headquarters to sort donated items and start the fourth annual Hunger Action Month food drive, a month-long collection effort that starts on Thursday.

Throughout September, organizers say that Marylanders will have the opportunity to donate nonperishable food items at a variety of events across the state. MSP and MDOT representatives will be out in full force to collect donations for those in need.

The full list of events can be found online, here, however keep in mind, Hunger Action Month event details are subject to change.

Select MDOT locations will also accept food donations throughout September at MDOT Food Drop Off Locations.

Also, supporters who can’t make it out to these events can donate food online using the MSP and MDOT virtual food bank platforms.

A main part of Hunger Action Month is the food bank’s Be a Voice Campaign, which encourages Marylanders to spread the word about the issue of hunger by snapping speech bubble selfies and sharing them via social media. Information about the Be a Voice Campaign is available online, here.
