Incidents with clowns in Easton

A release from the Easton Police Department mentions some incidents with people in clown costumes in the area and social media account posts.
According to the report, at about 8:20PM on Thursday, Easton Police responded to the Mulberry Station development after receiving a report that two boys were walking through the neighborhood in clown outfits. Police say that after a search, no one was located.
Later in the evening, around 9:30PM, Easton Police received complaints about an Instagram message being circulated.
Officials say that this message threatened the safety of students and teachers on Friday.
Through further investigation, officers state they were able to find out that this Instagram message originated in the State of Georgia. This particular message apparently did not mention Easton or any other Talbot County School, and this same post has also been received in several other cities and states.
Easton Police have been in contact with other law enforcement and the School systems, and note that there are no credible threats to our schools or students.
Officers say that they do understand that some students, and parents, may be uncomfortable, and because of this Easton officers will be making frequent patrol checks of schools.
The Town of Easton does have an ordinance prohibiting persons over 12 years of age to appear on any public roads, streets, or property while in any mask or disguise that conceals their identity. Those in violation are subject to a $100.00 fine and/or 30 days of imprisonment.
