Hudson Health Services hosts 1st Annual Recovery Month BBQ Bash

September is now officially known as Recovery Month. It is a national observance to raise awareness on mental and/or substance use disorders and to celebrate individuals in long-term recovery. It also acknowledges the work of prevention and recovery support services.
In Salisbury, Hudson Health Services hosted their first annual Recovery Month BBQ Bash on Saturday, which was opened to the public.
Hudson Health Services is a non-profit organization based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. They offer Inpatient Substance Abuse Treatment, including detoxification. It treats adult men and women over the age of 18, as well as their families, who have been affected by drugs and alcohol.
The BBQ Bash included speakers who spoke to the public about ways to help those on their route to recovery.
They also had many local vendors there such as the Wicomico County Health Department and Recovery Resource Center.
The BBQ Bash had free food available, such as macaroni and cheese and burgers.
Salisbury Mayor Jake Day was also there to show his support and to present his proclamation of Recovery Month on the city of Salisbury.
Planning for next year’s recovery month BBQ Bash will begin soon. To be a part of next year’s event, please contact Kennedy Hinman, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach at khinman@hudson-health.org or 1-410-219-9000 Ext. 120
