Healing rose garden in Salisbury honored

On Thursday evening the Susan G. Komen foundation and the MAC center, or maintaining active citizens, came together to honor a garden that has a specific and important purpose.

Both organizations funded the healing rose garden two years ago. The garden allows for recovered breast cancer patients to come together and garden as a part of their healing process. Growing everything from tomatoes and zucchini to flowers.

Lori Yates, community health manger for Susan G. Komen Maryland tells 47 ABC, “It’s served a lot of women in the community, a lot of breast cancer survivors have benefited from the program and they are now tending this garden and making it their own.”

47 ABC also spoke with Leann Eagle, executive director of MAC and she says, “We actually are teaching people how to grow their own vegetables, take them to their table to fight cancer, and for them to get their whole well being back again.”
