Harrington man arrested for assault

On Monday, the Harrington Police Department says they arrested a man for assault related to an incident that happened on Sunday.

According to the report, while on patrol, police were contacted by Milford Memorial Hospital about a victim who came to the hospital for treatment from and assault that apparently happened at Stones Bar on Mechanic Street.

Police were able to find the victim who told police that he was punched several times in the face by Michael Layton, 28, of Harrington, and officials also were able to find out that the victim’s girlfriend was assaulted too.  

Both victims are reported to have sustained non-life threatening facial injuries.  

Police obtained warrants for Layton, he was contacted, and eventually turned himself into the Harrington Police Department for processing.  

According to the report, Layton was charged with assault second degree and offensive touching. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
