H.S. Football Preview: Kent County Trojans

The Kent County football team has been steadily building the past few years and is looking to take the next step this year. The Trojans finished with a 6-4 record a year ago, before falling in the first round of the state tournament to Cambridge SD.

After reviewing the season, head coach Brendon Ireton knew that in order for his program to take the next step, they had to improve on the defensive side of the ball. Kent will be transitioning in a couple new faces into the group, but has almost moved All-Bayside selection Marcquan Greene from safety up to linebacker. Greene looks to be in for a monster season after a big off season added muscle to his frame, and has helped shape him into a create back. Offensively, the team will be moving on from the most prolific quarterback the Bayside has ever seen in Stevie Curran. Tyson Johnson has earned the job under center and is slowly picking up the offense of this unit. The offense figures to be dominate again by Greene, who now lines up all over the field from slot, to running back, and has show the ability to both catch the ball, run between the tackles and the speed to get to the edge.

Kent County opens up their season on September 2nd when they travel to play Queen Anne’s.
