Gov. Hogan announces Sept. as National Blood Cancer Awareness Month

Governor Larry Hogan announced on Thursday that September will be National Blood Cancer Awareness month in Maryland. A stage three non-Hodgkins lymphoma survivor himself, the governor is looking to raise awareness about the various different blood cancers.

On September 15th Hogan is set to host an American Red Cross Blood drive and bone marrow registry at the state house where there will be a blood-mobile so folks can donate. According to the leukemia and lymphoma society, over 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living with or are in remission from assorted blood cancers and every three minutes someone is diagnosed.
