Giant closing marks end of an era in Salisbury

For Giant shoppers in Salisbury, Thursday marked an end of an era.

Thursday 3 p.m. the supermarket shut its doors for the last time as Giant. When it reopens next week the store will be an Acme supermarket.

During the day the parking lost was full, as many people were taking advantage of their last chance to shop at the Salisbury Giant.

Patrons 47 ABC spoke with had mixed feelings about the store’s closing.

“Well it’s a passing of an institution in Salisbury and I’m really sad to see it go, um, hopefully Acme will serve us as well,” said Kit Wright.

“It doesn’t matter to me, I’ll probably come back to Acme,” said Nancy Kudla, who added she was a little sad to see Giant go.

The store will be closed until September 9th when it will reopen as Acme.
