Fruitland man reportedly arrested on drug charges

Dominique Gale, 25, of Fruitland

On Saturday morning, Salisbury Police say they conducted a traffic stop that ended in an arrest.

The traffic stop reportedly happened in the area of Salisbury Parkway, Route 50, and Mill Street when a man was arrested for driving under the influence of narcotics and possession of narcotics.

According to the report, around 5:00 AM, a Salisbury Police Officer saw a passenger vehicle with flat tires that was going south on Lake Street approaching Rt 50.

Officials say a traffic stop was done, and the officer made contact with the driver of the car, who was the only person in the car. The driver was identified as Dominique Gale, 25, of Fruitland, even though he apparently gave the officer false identification at first.

The officer was apparently able to notice immediately that Gale was slurring his speech and his movements were slow and labored. Gale then reportedly failed a variety of field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of narcotics.

According to the report, Gale was taken to Wicomico County Central Booking where he is waiting for an initial appearance.

A search incidental to Gale’s arrest reportedly revealed a large amount of controlled dangerous substances, Xanax, that was intended for distribution.

Officials say that Gale is being charged with possession of a CDS, possession of CDS with  the intent to distribute, false statement, obstruct and hinder, and assuming the identity of another.

The investigation into Gale’s impairment and the circumstances surrounding how his tires became flattened is continuing, and the Salisbury Police Department asks anyone with additional information concerning this investigation to contact the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 410-548-3113 or Crime Stoppers at 410-548-1776.
