Free Car Seat inspection in Salisbury on Saturday

This #ChildPassengerSafetyWeek, health officials say that people should make sure that they are practicing car seat safety.

The Wicomico County Health Department is urging parents and caregivers to check that their car seats and booster seats are properly installed on “National Seat Check Saturday” on September 24, and to help with that officials say certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to provide instruction on installing car and booster seats at Walmart on  2702 North Salisbury Blvd. from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Health officer, Lori Brewster says “Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 75 percent,” we’re here to help all parents make sure their car seats are used and installed correctly and that the whole family is buckled up every time, on every ride.”

Health experts say these inspections give drivers the opportunity to get help and guidance from certified car seat technicians in terms of installing their child safety and booster seats properly, and that these events continue year round.

Officials say parents and caregivers can find a community event by going to the KISS or kids in safety seats website or by calling HELPLINE 1-800-370-SEAT

KISS is a federally funded Maryland non-profit program whose mission is to decrease the amount of injuries and death among children by assisting with the installation of car and booster seats.
