Flood Warning issued in several counties

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a flood warning for urban areas and small streams in Worcester County in Southeastern Maryland, Southeastern Somerset County, Southeastern Wicomico County, and North Central Accomack County in Southeastern Virginia until 6:15 PM.

Also, at 3:12 PM, Emergency Management Officials reported thunderstorms with heavy Rain in Pocomoke City. The heavy rain will apparently cause flooding. Three to four inches of rain have already fallen, and several roads have been closed in the Pocomoke City area due to flooding.  

Some locations that are listed to experience flooding include Pocomoke City, Snow Hill, West Pocomoke, Westover, Marion Station, Saxis, Shelltown, Sanford, Mount Wesley, Rehoboth, Boxiron, Public Landing, Girdletree, Whiton, Powellville, Horntown, Longridge, Kingston, and Goodwill

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the warned area.

The National Weather Service lists the following precautionary/preparedness actions:
Turn around, do not drown when encountering flooded roads
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, county roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
