Felton grandmother kills baby, neighbors left puzzled

herself in to authorities yesterday after confessing that she had killed her grandson – and left him inside her house for several days. 47 abc’s julian sadur spoke with neighbors today. here in felton, delawareneighbors in this community still have many questions regarding the death of a three year old that allegedly happened in the house right behind me such as why angela bingham would kill her grandson that neighbors say she loved and why she would leave him rotting in a house for several days before contacting authorities. but from talking with those who may have known her best, this may have all been a misguided attempt to keep her grandson safe she killed her grandson because she felt that if she could not raise her grandson she did not want nobody else to raise him, that’s how much she loved him 164001 she was just that over protective she didn’t want to send him nowhere else to where he can be hurt and she was not there to protect him track next door neighbor letoshia tiggs – was angela bingham’s friend – she thinks bingham may have just snapped when she allegedly killed her 3 year old grandson. she was apparently facing a lot – an eviction notice on her door marking her limited time left in the house. tiggs says bingham had fallen behind on her rent after her daughter – the boy’s mother — walked out to live with someone else — leaving the boy behind. she believes bingham feared having to give her grandson back to her daughter. according to court documents- bingham said in a police interview that she had wanted to kill her grandson and herself and turned on the gas in the house – but when that didn’t work she chose to suffocate the child with a washcloth as he lay in bed – telling the child before she killed him – that it was time go. bingham told police she then tried killing herself by drinking bleach – hanging herself and taking pills — but she survived. she says she then waited 9 days – the child’s body decomposing on the bed – before calling police to confess –and telling them she wanted to harm herself. police found her tuesday morning — walking at this route 13 intersection. neighbors say bingham had been acting weird all week – and 3 days prior to her arrest — tiggs sent her daughter jyala pitts to check on her. she opened the door a little bit so i could see her eyes, i smelt something and then i asked her if she was ok, if everything was alright and she said yeah they were sick and he was asleep. i ask her what the smell was she said food had went bad in her refrigerator “what did it smell like?” it just smelt like something was rotten, i mean it didn’t smell like food it just smelt nasty to be honest track despite the odor – they still believed bingham’s alibi – never thinking murder was even a possibility in what they described as a loving relationship. neighbors we spoke to said the three year old was extremely smart and full of life and say he will be sorely missed. reporting in felton delaware – julian sadur 47 abc angela bingham is currently being held without bail – at the baylor women’s correction institution. an autopsy will be conducted on the boy’s body to determine the exact cause of death. dover police track down and arrest a wanted suspect –
