Fatal house fire kills minor

Officials and witnesses say a young girl died today in a house fire. When 47 ABC arrived there were fire marshals and state police on the scene. Family members refused to speak to us but we were able to get some information from the neighbor who called the fire department.
“The mother was standing right there,” said Anton Fooks, pointing to his front lawn. “I asked her is your house on fire, she said yes and that there was a child inside.”
Fooks lives right next door and said he smelled the smoke while he was in the shower and immediately called the fire department. Other witnesses say the fire department and police where there within minutes.
The fire broke out on the 300 block of Prince street in Salisbury Saturday afternoon. Neighbors say the fire started in the shed, located in the back of the house. They led us to the backyard where we were able to see exactly where the fire started. There were children’s bicycles in the backyard as well as the owners dog, who wouldn’t let anyone touch him.
“The baby was in the back, right there,” said Fooks pointing towards the fire ravaged home. “We tried to kick the back door open but it wasn’t coming.”
Officials tell us a little girl died in the fire, but have not released any details. 47 ABC will be following up on the story.
