Fatal crash closes roads in Hartly

Troopers from the Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a Marydel man Thursday afternoon.
Police say around 2:51 p.m., Michael Wallace, 52, was driving a Chevrolet pickup west on Halltown Road just east of Crystal Road.
According to Troopers, Wallace attempted to negotiate a left curve and lost control of the truck, which traveled off the south side of the roadway.
State Police say the pickup first struck a mailbox while rotating counter-clockwise, and then striking a tree on the driver’s side door before coming to an abrupt stop.
Police say Wallace was not properly restrained, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Halltown Road in the area of the crash was closed for three and a half hours while the investigation took place.
