Delmarva preps for Festival Hispano

September 15th marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. This month recognizes contributions made by the Latino community and celebrates the culture.
On Delmarva,  the community is celebrating this with an event called ‘Festival Hispano’.
Organizers tell us is this a way for people to learn about the growing Latino community in Sussex County,  but also help raise money fund programming at  La Esperanza which is a non-profit organization in the heart of Georgetown.

Rosalia Velazquez, the Executive Director at La Esperanza says, “We provide services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse. We have a youth program. These funds help us to be able to continue to provide that very important service in our community.”

Festival Hispano will take place this Sunday, September 18th at 11 AM in Georgetown.
