Delaware State Police say serious vehicle crash in Camden

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that happened around 8 p.m. on Saturday west of Camden.

Mark T. Long, 53 of Camden, was headed northbound on Oak Point School Road approaching Jebb Road when he tried making a left hand turn, but his vehicle started to rotate in a counter clockwise direction. As the car rotated, its right side tires dug into the roadway causing it to rollover ejecting both the driver Long and his five year old son.

Authorities report the car then left the west side of the roadway and landed on its roof facing in a south direction in a private yard.

Police say Long was transported by ambulance to the Kent General Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition. His passenger, Long’s five-year-old son, was air lifted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition.

Police believe both Long and his son were not properly restrained and speed is a factor in this collision.

Oak Point School Road in the area of the crash was shut down for approximately three hours while the collision was investigated.

The crash is still an ongoing investigation.
