Comptroller Franchot speaks at CPA Financial Symposium about Maryland’s economy

Maryland’s comptroller Peter Franchot spoke to a room of accountants about Maryland’s economy at Salisbury University.

Franchot was the keynote speaker at the CPA financial symposium which was hosted by Comprehensive Financial Solutions, a Salisbury-based financial advising firm.

He spoke to the accountants about Maryland’s fiscal stance and economic outlook and provided an update on some taxpayer security initiatives.

Franchot says that Maryland has a bright future ahead, “We’re still a rich state, we have a rich future, we have a very bright future, there is going to be a lot of wealth generated, lots of jobs, lots of wage growth, but it’s going to take a little bit of time.”

Franchot said that despite upcoming growth, the state should be very cautious about new spending and new debt, while being cautious about major tax cuts that are not practical.
